Red for Remembrance A Success!

Great job, guys! R4R raised over $10 last night. To round it off, I'm going to put in an extra ten, just for kicks. So thank you to all the participants! You guys are awesome.

Now, what to do now...

As we go on, you can still donate every day. Just go to anysoldier.com and donate. If you don't want to do that, then still send me game histories of you playing with the R4R armor. You will donate 10 cents for every game you play in the armor.

If you have any ideas for further events, please contact me here or at my email, playfortroops@gmail.com.

Thanks guys!
Hunter

After R4R: What's the Plan?

As we gear up for R4R, it is still important to look ahead to upcoming events. R4R is but the beginning, my friends, and will be much improved on.

This winter I have a few plans for a tournament. This tournament would be held at a local place, with many prizes, food and drinks with shady geeks galore. Exactly when and where this will be is undecided as of yet, but if you live in the Sarasota area, you can rest assured you will receive an invite.

Other news! Gaining followers on Twitter. Have yet to receive a direct reply from a damned soul, but eventually, my friends. Eventually.

Remember! Link this blog to yours and get the word out. Let's do this Marines! Ooh Rah!

Play for Soldiers... Our Mission

Play for Soldiers... what a lovely name...

Well, I see that it's you and me in this black abyss that is "Play for Soldiers". Well, to keep you interested along with keeping myself awake I will outline the main points of this cause.

Play for Soldiers benefits "AnySoldier.com", a website dedicated to sending care packages to soldiers across the globe. Hopefully we can raise a lot of money for this worthy cause and keep up the care packages. Below are some of the steps we plan to take in order to do this.

Play for Troops 7 Steps

1. Gather a following via "Red for Remembrance" (see past entry)
2. Execute a successful booth at a school fair (TBA)
3. Organize player tournaments for prestige.
4. Gather donors and backers.
5. Hold tournaments for prizes and swag.
6. Hold tournaments between active military personnel and players for prizes, swag nd some serious prestige.
7. Repeat 3-7 on and on and on...

So there you have it! Play in Red for Remembrance, tell your friends, update your Twitter, do whatever you can to let people in on this very well kept secret!

Red for Remembrance

Welcome to Play for Soldiers! My name is Hunter, and I am the creator of this blog and of "Play for Soldiers", a fundraiser for our fantastic men and women in the armed forces.

I personally am deeply indebted to the United States Military. I have a family member in the Marine Corps and my Grandfather was an N.C.O. in the Army during World War II. It is an undeniable fact that in the last 200 years, my family and yours has been either directly or indirectly protected or saved by the U.S. Armed Forces.

In honor of the troops here and gone, I started a group called "Support the Troops" on Bungie.net. This group is small, but is growing slowly. The main cause of this group is called "Play for Soldiers". The first event is taking place on Friday, September 11th. The event is called "Red for Remembrance". Read on to learn how you can contribute to this event and to help out military personnel across the globe.

On this date, on Halo 3, I would like everyone to wear red armor primary colors, with white secondary on any armor variant. Wear black primary with your Mjolnir Helmet emblem with black secondary on the swords.

Surf matchmaking, play custom games with this armor and emblem, just have fun. Then, send me a message at playfortroops@gmail.com with a link to each of the game histories that you have played. For each game over 5 minutes, I and my sponsors will contribute 25 cents, plus 10 cents for each player with the Play for Soldiers armor and emblem on. I will then contribute the proceeds to AnySoldier.com, a great website dedicated to sending care packages to active military personnel. Anyone who would like to donate more can simply donate via check or Paypal to AnySoldier.

Extra donations, even just $1, will help! The website is "AnySoldier.com", please donate anything you can!

Please join up, my newfound readers. Please help me get the word out by linking this page or telling your friends the scoop. If you have any questions, e-mail me or message me on this site. Thank you!
